Welcome to Reel Challenge!
Reel Challenge is a video contest for student producers in grades 8 - 12. Our goal is to offer an opportunity to celebrate our students’ God-given creativity in the area of visual communications.
Q. What if my students don’t have a video production class or editing studio?
A. All you need is an adult who will supervise and be responsible for the end product, students who are motivated to create visual messages, and a camera. Jamie Corbett, our Reel Challenge Academic Advisor is available to offer support and suggestions on how Reel Challenge can be implemented in your school. This challenge is for small groups and/or individual students.
What is a “Reel Challenge”?
It is…
- a place where young filmmakers can express their creativity while demonstrating an understanding of the ultimate Truth. This year’s character trait is forgiveness. [For specific information see Challenge Info.]
- a team of Christian communication professionals who donate their time to evaluate submitted video projects. Why, because they believe that we must raise up an army of confident media communicators in order to transform this world for Christ.
- a moment designed to celebrate the God-given creativity which was breathed into our students. A trophy and prizes will be awarded and each student will receive a certificate of participation for their academic portfolio. We are also partnering with Student Leadership Institute to launch our first student film festival in Orlando, Fl.
It is the desire of the School of Communications that students have a stimulating and positive educational learning experience as they create their original productions. They are encouraged to explore the character trait with a Biblical worldview lens. We believe that students must be allowed to express their creativity while demonstrating that they are indeed processing information through a perspective of ultimate truth.
